Throughout the week of 23-29 March 2015, Varley were delighted to host four work placement students from local Newcastle high schools.
Curtis Montgomery (pictured) and Kayne Forrester-Baker, both of Newcastle High School, joined Daniel Masters and Trent Walker, of Callaghan College, in the Varley workshop for a week of Metals and Engineering studies.
The Vocational Education and Training (VET) work placement program offers students a chance to get ‘hands on’ and experience the work practices and ethics that often cannot be gained through school studies.
The group had a unique opportunity to join Varley’s expert team of engineers, tradesmen and supervisors and learn a diverse range of occupational skills and knowledge. The Varley team were impressed by the students’ energy, commitment and enthusiasm, and look forward to hosting students again in future.
