Varley recently delivered the initial 3 of a total fleet of 80 Ambulance Modules to the Australian Defence Force (ADF).
The Ambulance Module has been designed by Varley and integrates a Climate Control System, Rollover Protection System and Litter Loading System. This project represents the joint collaboration between project teams at Varley, Defence, and Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific and is one of the most challenging Modules in the Light, Lightweight Capability requirement.
The role of the Ambulance Module is to provide medical transport to casualties whilst resuscitation and stabilisation occurs in-transit. Up to 2 patients on stretchers, or 1 stretchered and 3 seated patients, can be carried alongside Medical Personnel on board.
The Ambulance Modules will be assembled on-site at Varley, Tomago over the course of the coming financial year, with final delivery occurring in June 2016. Prior to delivery to the ADF the Ambulance Modules are integrated to the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon Vehicle.
